The sound and conception of organ music was an inspiration for timbral variation and spatialization. 12) Biography of the artist (100 words): Timothy Ernest Johnson's recent compositional accolades include being a finalist in Alea III 2008, a prize winner in "Musica Nova" 2008 and a presenter at the 2005 International Lisp Conference, all involving algorithmically composed music. Other music programming projects include creating electronic realizations of Ben Johnston's string quartets, software to tune harmony by pure intervals (at the behest of Shania Twain) and software tools for use in analyzing microtonal music. Besides composition/programming Johnson is an active guitarist, having premiered many new works in North America, Europe and Asia.
